Tinu Bosînceanu
I'm Tinu. Born in Suceava, math at Harvard, a few years in finance in the US, and since 2017 back in Bucharest running Upgrade Education, where we've helped over 1,500 Romanian teenagers get into places like Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and ETH. I co-wrote Study Abroad, which was, as far as I can tell, the first book in Romanian about any of this.
This site is where I think out loud. A vlog every day, in Romanian — a few minutes, one idea. Essays in English when an idea needs more room. Mostly about education, about building something from here instead of somewhere easier, and about the small decisions that turn out to be the big ones.

Grades and medals get you to the line. Above it, universities are looking for one thing, and most Romanian applicants have never been asked for it.
Why Romanian Talent Underprices Itself
The world doesn't discount Romanians nearly as much as Romanians discount themselves. Where the discount comes from, and how to stop paying it.
